There is something wonderfully rebellious about being out of step with the times. In a world chasing trends and fast-paced lifestyles, two souls find solace in a different rhythm – a rhythm that comes from a time long gone, the unapologetic 1990s.
Our shoot, entitled ‘Please Be Patient, I’m From the 1900s’, captures us as a couple bluntly expressing our nostalgia. In the gloomy atmosphere of an underground station, each image exudes rebellion, romance and retro style. She stands pugnaciously, wearing space buns and neon-coloured leggings that give the impression that Saved By the Bell meets cyberpunk. He follows close on her heels, wearing a matching oversized sweatshirt with the same statement: ‘Please be patient, I’m from the 1900s’. It’s more than just a phrase – it’s a declaration of identity.
Together we tell a story – of analogue hearts in a digital world, of mixtapes and landlines, of a love that is patient because it is timeless.
The lighting is harsh, the shadows are intentional. Cigarette smoke lingers in the air, as if time itself is pausing to admire her. Their gaze is defiant, their posture self-assured – two people who know who they are without apologising.
The look may be Second Life or stylised realism, but the emotions are tangible and real. This is a tribute to the runaways. To the vintage hearts. To those who wear their past with pride.
These wonderfully stylish 90s clothes are from the Easter Hunt at Kostaco Square.
