Cats Hollow Weekly – What’s New in Town?
Hey everyone, I’ve got something new for you!
Cats Hollow has grown so much over the past year that I decided it deserves its own section on my blog. From now on, you’ll find a weekly roundup of everything that’s happening in my favorite town in Second Life right here.
We’ve now been back on the Mainland for almost a full year. Cats Hollow has expanded to cover an area of more than two full regions, spread across four Mainland regions, with direct road access to Route 8 as well as a beautiful beach area offering access to the protected waterways and the Blake Sea.
So, what’s been happening lately?
A New Neighborhood Is Taking Shape: Cats Hollow Heights
Behind the Family Barn there used to be a large piece of empty land that I’m currently transforming into a brand-new neighborhood. The reason is simple: nostalgia.
When I first started building Cats Hollow back in 2023 as a tiny little neighborhood in Sweetbay, there was a charming district made up of four converted barns near our train station, connected to town by a small path, complete with a café and a little park. Ever since Cats Hollow left Sweetbay, I’ve missed that cozy atmosphere. So what could be more obvious than rebuilding it? Exactly. Nothing. Of course, Cats Hollow in Sweetbay had a completely different layout because space was much more limited, but I still wanted to recreate that same neighborhood feeling—a place with small local shops, a kiosk where you can grab a coffee (because let’s be honest, who can live without coffee?), and plenty of places where the community can come together.
Cats Hollow Heights now features a small shopping row (our bicycle shop has already moved in), a cozy kiosk, and a public swimming pond where you can relax and unwind, as Lottie and Sayo happily demonstrated this week.
A new road now connects Cats Hollow Heights both to Route 8 and to my own home, making it incredibly easy for me to gather the kids, take a stroll through the neighborhood, and end up at the playground by the Family Barn.
Public Avatar Transportation Has Arrived
For a little while now, you’ll find small transportation stops at key locations throughout Cats Hollow, including Cats Hollow Heights. Look for the rotating advertising column and the sign that says „Click and Travel.“ After accepting the experience permission, you’ll be able to teleport around town as much as you like.
Now that Cats Hollow has grown into quite a sizeable town, this saves a lot of walking time—and somehow makes getting around even more fun.
The Strawberry Festival Continues Through Early August
There’s still plenty of time to enjoy our Strawberry Festival! Pick fresh strawberries at the Family Barn, take a ride on the carousel, or browse through our growing collection of festival souvenirs. LM: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Trabushkja/84/24/29
We also have a brand-new attraction. Lady Millie Whiskerblow has officially joined Cats Hollow as our very own town oracle. Keep an eye out for her strawberry carriage by the beach, where she happily shares one of her famous words of wisdom with every visitor. Getting Married in Cats Hollow Is About to Become Even More Beautiful
For the past few days I’ve been giving our wedding venue a complete makeover, inside and out. The reason for this renovation was a parcel of land that I’d been hoping to acquire for a very long time—and I’m delighted to say that it finally became part of Cats Hollow. In the future, couples will not only be able to get married inside our adorable little chapel, but also outdoors with a beautiful waterfall as their backdrop.
As always, all you need to do is reserve a date. There is no charge to use the venue, although tips are always greatly appreciated. Simply send me a notecard with your preferred wedding date, and I’ll reserve the location for you. If you have any special wishes, don’t hesitate to tell me. I’m a huge fan of weddings and I’ll do my very best to create a beautiful setting for your special day.
Well… this update turned out to be a little longer than expected, but so much has been happening around here!
Why not stop by and have a look around? It has happened before that someone came by just to explore… and somehow ended up with a new home, wonderful neighbors, and five cats.
Warm regards,
Anika Whiskers
Mayor of Cats Hollow
