The Week Halloween Caught Up With Us
Hello and welcome to the latest weekly roundup from the Family of Cats Hollow! Last week was, above all, one thing: incredibly busy, with things getting a little spooky towards the end. But let’s start at the beginning. For quite some time, I’d been meaning to create some new things for my shop, [LVRS]. And generally speaking, I sometimes find it difficult to decide where my heart belongs most: Cats Hollow, with all the plans I still have for it, or my shop (with all the plans I still have for that, too).
So I decided to give it another try and organise my time by dedicating each week to a particular project. Last week, it was my shop’s turn. And I have to say, not allowing myself to get distracted by a hundred little side projects made me surprisingly productive. I created several new products and, of course, some new group gifts as well.
Halloween isn’t exactly my favourite holiday. I’m also someone who gets startled rather easily, so I’ve been quite restrained with the Halloween decorations around town this year, choosing instead to celebrate autumn, which is, without question, my favourite season. Still, there’s no escaping Halloween entirely, so once again, there will be a Halloween costume for the whole family available as a gift in my shop.
I had an enormous amount of fun creating these outfits, especially since our children have grown a bit older in the meantime and have naturally become the perfect models for them. And once you’ve seen Liv, dressed as a tiny witch, flying around the house on her broomstick, everything suddenly makes perfect sense. The broomstick is, of course, included in the gift set. And yes, the cat really does enjoy hanging there.
Ever since I learned how to rig things to armatures in Blender, an entirely new world has opened up to me, including the possibility of putting cats into poses they would normally only agree to under considerable protest.
The set will be available to pick up in my shops sometime this week, and I hope you’ll enjoy it!
You might remember that we spent our summer camping holiday in a beautiful region called Serene Woods, which I wrote about here. The owners have created a wonderful Halloween landscape and invited us to come and explore it, an invitation we were more than happy to accept.
You can read all about our adventures there and see all the photos here. …and please don’t ask me how I ended up in that cage.
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, our clocks went back from daylight saving time to standard time (or, as I like to call it, the restoration of balance to the universe). So, as on almost every Sunday, we went to Omerta’s church to attend the service, only to discover that it was already over, because apparently we were the only ones affected by the time change. Rookie mistake.
At least we made the most of it by taking a little stroll around the island and capturing a romantic photo.
And that’s all for this week. See you next time!
Yours,
Annie
