The Week We Celebrated Two Wonderful Years
This week was all about a very special family occasion. Liv turned two on October 6, and I still remember exactly what it was like when she came into our lives two years ago.
We experienced the entire pregnancy in real time in Second Life, which means that a full nine months passed between the positive pregnancy test and her birth. Plenty of time to prepare, get excited, and celebrate the little milestones along the way. Her birth itself was a truly beautiful moment for Mike and me. We had experienced all of this before in IMVU, but Second Life offers so many more possibilities when it comes to pregnancy roleplay.
Well, here we are, two whole years later, celebrating the fact that she’s part of our lives.
The evening before her birthday, we decorated our dining room for the occasion, and of course, there was a birthday cake. Liv received a big dollhouse, which she absolutely adores. I honestly think she wishes she were just a little bit smaller so she could move in and sleep there herself.
She also got a plush fox that she can sit down or carry around with her. Knowing my daughter, I suspect that fox is going to see quite a bit of the world.
Naturally, we took a few snapshots of our newly minted two-year-old, and I think they capture her lively little personality rather well. Of course, her sister had to be part of the fun, too. As much as those two little ladies sometimes squabble, they love each other dearly, so some sister pictures were an absolute must.
We finished things off with a family portrait, and I’d say there’s more to come after our big family celebration next week.
Meanwhile, I’ve had quite a lot to organize and build in Cats Hollow, so I’ve been spending the occasional hour in my brand-new mayor’s office, taking care of the most important things. Mike often keeps me company, which I appreciate very much. My assistant is certainly hardworking, but she’s more the professionally quiet type.
On my way to the office, I love stopping by The Daily Meow café to pick up a coffee to go and catch up on the latest neighborhood gossip. I have such a soft spot for places that feel warm and cozy, especially during autumn and winter, where the air always smells of freshly brewed coffee and sweet pastries.
Today also brings another installment of our house tour. This time, we’re taking a look at our spacious living room and sunroom.
Like everything else in our wonderful house by Diamond Houses, this part of the home is more than generously sized. It did take a little renovating to soften some of its rather cold grandeur, but fortunately, I managed without having to move a single wall. The floor received the same beloved wooden planks we’ve already used throughout the rest of the house. In fact, I’ve also changed all the doors and window frames from neutral white to a warmer wood tone. Initially, we had mosaic tiles on the floor of the sunroom, but they made the space feel rather chilly, so we replaced those with wooden flooring as well.
Our large family dining table has found its home in the sunroom, along with my cozy armchair, a little play area, and lots and lots of plants. In the living room, the most eye-catching feature is probably our photo wall above the fireplace. I always try to keep it updated with our latest family pictures. I actually ripped out the original fireplace and replaced it with one that’s a little more worn and weathered. I simply like that slightly shabby look. It gives a room character.
We also have the family sofa by Kitty Kate in our living room, mainly because of all the poses and gadgets it offers for the whole family. Unfortunately, I can’t change the upholstery myself, so we ended up designing the surrounding space to match the sofa instead. Sometimes the furniture gets to make the decorating decisions!
And with that, I wish you all a wonderful week ahead!
Lots of love,
Your Annie
