There’s something deeply magical about a brand new house – not just the walls and the roof, but the space in which you enjoy your memories, your morning coffee, your laughter and your love.
These photos were taken just a few days after the completion of our new house. The colour was still fresh, the garden not yet grown in. But it already felt like ours. The place where our story continues. You can see it in the way we move, the way we hold each other. It’s like we’ve finally taken a breath together that we didn’t even realise we’d been holding.
Our dream home isn’t great because of its size or furniture – it’s special because of what we’ve put into it: Time, care, intention and a lot of heart. We danced barefoot on the new terrace, exchanging silent glances and watching the cats take up their favourite spots.
Our dream home isn’t great because of its size or furniture – it’s special because of what we’ve put into it:
We’ve had a few houses before, but never has it felt like this, so completely ours. Fun fact: I bought a super kitchen almost immediately after we moved into our first house two years ago, but it’s a bit tricky to place because of its special shape. It never fitted into one of our houses. I always had to delete, adapt or move something … and often I simply replaced the kitchen with a simpler one. When we were furnishing this house, this exact kitchen came back into my thoughts. And what can I say … it fitted perfectly! A sign? I don’t know, but it was definitely my dream kitchen in our dream home.
Beauty lies in beginnings. And this house marks a new chapter for us – not just as individuals, but also as a family.
In some of the next few posts, I’ll take you on a little tour of our new home. But today I just wanted to capture the feeling of finally having arrived.
