It was a hot summer day when Annie and Mike decided to spend their day off by the pool. The sun was high in the sky and the temperatures were steadily climbing. Luckily they didn’t have to walk far because they had their pool in the garden behind the house.
So they thoroughly enjoyed the cool water and simply sat down, exhausted, on the large beach towel at the edge of the pool. They sprayed each other with sunscreen and then settled down with a contented sigh.
“What a beautiful day,” Annie said, closing her eyes to enjoy the warm breeze. Mike nodded in agreement and pulled out his book, which he had wanted to read for weeks but had never found the time.
After a while they felt the sun burning hotter and hotter. “Want to cool off?” Mike asked and jumped up. Annie grinned and followed him to the pool.
They splashed, laughed, and floated on the surface of the water. Mike told Annie joke after joke and she couldn’t stop laughing. Their laughter echoed throughout the neighborhood.
After some time in the water, they lay back on the edge of the pool and let the sun and warm air dry their wet bodies. Annie reached for an ice cold lemonade and offered Mike a drink too. They toasted each other, chatted and enjoyed the refreshment.
The day flew by, filled with laughter and relaxation. In the evening, as the sun set and the first stars appeared in the sky, Annie and Mike were still sitting on the terrace, looking out into the night and feeling completely content.
“It was a perfect day,” Annie said quietly. Mike put his arm around her and smiled. “Yes, it really was,” he agreed. “A day I will never forget.”
